What's the Book You Most Enjoyed in 2009?

It looks like listmania has struck me too. I've been trying to resist the trend until at least the end of the year but I caved. I just had to let the Welleristas weigh in on the year about to pass. So I asked our staff, "What's the book you most enjoyed reading in 2009?" I placed no restrictions on publication date or print status so it's a wildly diverse list, as suits us. Here they are in no particular order:

John
Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Liz
Foxfire by Joyce Carol Oates

Bruce
East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Jennifer
Far Bright Star by Robert Olmstead

Elizabeth
World Doesn't End by Charles Simic

Zach
South by South Bronx by Abraham Rodriguez

Joan
Introducing C. B. GreenField by Lucille Kallen

Tony
Getting Into Death and Other Stories by Thomas Disch

Travis
Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erickson

Chase
Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera

Keltin
Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee

Neil
Are You Dave Gorman? by Dave Gorman

Stephanie
Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon by Tom Spanbauer

Frank
Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America by Douglas Brinkley

Karla
Gone by Michael Grant

And you, dear readers, what was the book you most enjoyed in 2009? We'd love to hear about it.

I'd probably have to go with Michael Chabon's "Manhood for Amateurs" or Ralph Martin's "The Fulfilment of All Desire".
